UNCIAL deals in rare books, manuscripts, prints, and ephemera — the printed and the handwritten, the celebrated and the nearly lost.

Every item we offer is catalogued in full: edition, binding, provenance, and condition, described plainly and photographed honestly, including the flaws. If a jacket is chipped you will see the chip. We would rather lose a sale than have a book arrive as a surprise.

Our name is taken from the rounded majuscule script of the earliest surviving codices — the hand that carried literature through the centuries when very little else survived. Our mark is a hand holding a torch, and it is a promise about what we do. Everything here was somewhere dark for a long time. We bring it to light.

I started this company for one reason: to be a small part in the lives of these books. I will die, and some time after that, my name will die too, but the moments are etched and the gifts brought from these books will last longer, if not forever. This is my play in bargaining with eternity.
